Concords mission is to educate, nurture, and to care for both young and old members of the congregation and to reach beyond our church walls to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the larger community through ministries that address both spiritual and physical needs. We are solidly Presbyterian in our emphasis upon both the well-educated mind and the well-nurtured soul. We strive to be both open-minded and open-hearted. We believe that we are justified by faith and that in Christ, God offers us infinite second chances to be the people Christ calls us to be.
Confirmation is the way we bring our young people into full membership in the life of our church. This year, our middle schoolers will go through confirmation as part of Youth Fellowship on Sunday nights. This class is open to any young person sixth grade and older who would like to join the church or learn more and ask questions about our faith, the Bible, and the Church. This class is open to all middle school youth and no commitment to join the church is necessary. There will be plenty to explore regardless of membership. The group will explore Presbyterian and other traditions. The Rev. Kyle Goodman and Tommy Stevenson will teach the class. It begins October 3rd as a part of Youth fellowship beginning at 5:30 PM on Sunday nights.
Rise and Shine - Contemporary Worship
Concord will begin a contemporary worship service on October 31 at 9 AM. It will be over by the time Sunday School begins at 9:45. With this service e hope to experiment with and experience new expressions of the worship of God.
Check out the new church library located in the Wiley Building. It contains many theological, Christian and reference works available to members. A good selection of fiction novels and several years of CPC Worship DVDs are also available for checkout. A large number of historical items from the heritage room are currently on display as the library is more easily accessible.
One of Concords ministries is recording services and distributing them to homebound members as well as nursing homes in Statesville. These DVDs are also available for members. We ask that you borrow a copy of the service from the Church Library, but if you want a copy to keep (Youth Sunday, Baptism, Award, etc.) please ask a member of the technology committee or fill out the request form online.
