Discovering the Greater Things:
The title of our current sermon series through the New Testament book of Hebrews. The author to this divinely inspired book invites us on a journey to discover for ourselves the greater things we have in Christ.
Celebrating our Common-Union in Christ
Every third Sunday of the month we celebrate "community" where the worship service focuses on the concepts of community, and we celebrate our unity with Christ through the Lord's Supper. The next Community Sunday is November 21st.
On Sunday, Nov. 28, the children will be making Advent Wreaths to take home and use during the Advent Season.
The church should be a hospital for sick souls. Saint Augustine
Are you suffering from shattered dreams, guilt, sadness, loneliness, loss, isolation, or from burdens that weigh you down? You may wish for and seek wellness, but nobody can find wellness alone. Is the "church" a safe place to find refuge? Many people think they have to get their lives together before they can go to church, but if the church is equated to a hospital for sick souls, it ought to change our whole perspective on spiritual healing. After all, its only when youre sick that you realize you need to visit the doctor. The same applies here.
Providence is a community of souls who have suffered and are suffering from a range of spiritual ailments and sin -- such as anger, selfishness, jealousy, self-righteousness, insecurities, dysfunctions, and fears. We are a group of self-admitted patients who have come to the hard truth that we can't heal ourselves, and that we need divine intervention. God is the healer. He entered our world in the person of Jesus Christ to take on all our infirmities, even our death! In exchange, Jesus forgives us and gives us his holiness (which is a fancy way for saying a spiritually clean bill of health). We celebrate this message of grace in our lives as a community of Jesus-followers.
Do you long to be well? All we ask is that you bring the things that make your soul sick, and all that you carry in your heart with you, and be here with us, God, and His Word. Our commitment as a community is to be with each other, believing God and His prescription for our souls as it comes to us in the healing power of the Gospel.
