Pender County Commissioners met last Friday to compile a list of top priorities from public meetings with county residents. The board held a series of community meetings at several locations around Pender County last week, inviting residents to attend and bring their ideas to the table. Meetings were held in Maple Hill, Hampstead, Penderlea, Rocky Point, and Burgaw. Consultants Heather Lee and Stephen Straus with Developmental Associates of Chapel Hill acted as facilitators in both the citizen meetings and the board’s information session last Friday.

Early voting is, in the words of one elections observer, “going like gangbusters.” The General Elections are Tuesday, but early voting continues through Saturday at 1 p.m. at all one-stop sites.
