Mt. Tabor is a United Methodist Community of Faith. It is a part of the Winston-Salem District of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference . We have approximately 2100 members, three dynamic worship services, and ministries for persons of all ages. Mt. Tabor has been a part of the landscape of Winston-Salem since 1845 and has deep roots in the United Methodist Church. We seek to enable all who enter the doors of the church to "GATHER joyfully, GROW spiritually, and GO faithfully to share God's Word both in Love and Action."
Mt. Tabor is a family-friendly church; our goal is to provide ministry to people of all ages and stages of life. Our mission statement is founded on Christ's Great Commission to his first disciples, "Go and make disciples..." Our mission statement is "Gather joyfully, Grow spiritually and Go faithfully to share God's Word in both Love and Action." We seek to provide creative opportunities to help children, teens and adults connect with God, the church, with each other, the community and the world through mission outreach. We are the gathered Body of Christ. Richard Avery and Donald Marsh said it so well in their popular children's hymn "We Are the Church." In the words of the hymn, "I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together." Coming together as God's people, growing spiritually and going out serve in Jesus' name are three of the most important things we can do. We are nurtured by being in the presence of God's people.
Approximately 2,000 people gather at Mt. Tabor each week to participate in a variety of ministries and activities being offered here. We gather weekly as a worshipping community, but there are many other gathering opportunities. Our ministries include: Sunday School for every age-level, a Weekday Preschool, an After School Care program, Girl and Boy Scouting, a wide range of small group opportunities, mission building teams, active children and youth ministries, senior adult ministries, mission trips, community events, and a weekly fellow meal, just to name a few. Mt. Tabor is truly A Place To Belong.
