Homeowners insurance rates will be increasing by an average of 23% in the
coastal counties of North Carolina as of May 1st. 2009. This rate increase was approved
by the North Carolina Department of Insurance late last year.
The North Carolina Joint Underwriters Asso. (Coastal Wind Coverage) has just
changed their coverage for personal contents from 70% of the dwelling amount to 40% of
the dwelling amount and will only cover your personal contents at actual cost value, not

Medicare Supplement plans will be changing as of June 1st, 2010. Medicare
will introduce 11 new plans to choose from and eliminate 4 of the existing plans. Plans E,
H, I and J are being eliminated and new versions of A,B,C,D,F, high-deductible F, G, K,
L, M, and N will be available. In addition, the at home recovery benefits and preventative
care benefits will no longer be available.
