Sunset River Marketplace art gallery is located in historic Calabash, NC, just minutes from Brunswick Island, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Our 10,000 square foot gallery exhibits art by regional and local artists of virtually all genres including oil and water color paintings, charcoal, acrylics, photography, hand blown glass, woven fiber art, pottery, turned wood, metalwork's, intarsia, artisan-crafted-jewelry, and other fine art and collectables.

The Marketplace provides top-quality custom framing services by our master framer as well as cleaning and restoration services. Ongoing art classes, taught by local professionals, are offered through out the year. We also offer advanced artist workshops, instructed by well known professional artists. Sunset River Marketplace is a vibrant exciting gallery located in the historic fishing village of Calabash, North Carolina. The uber-creative space invites artists and collectors to explore the displays that make up 10,000-plus square feet of fine arts and crafts.
Showcasing only artists from the two Carolinas, this eclectic gallery boasts an amazing offering of clay art and pottery; oil paintings, watercolors, mixed media, pastels and acrylics; plus award-winning metalworks, wood pieces, hand-blown glass, fiber art, artisan-made jewelry and more. Since opening in 2002, Sunset River Marketplace has become a popular destination for visitors, a gathering place for artists and a center of the community.
Located onsite are a pottery studio, complete with two kilns; a custom master framing department; and art classrooms for workshops and ongoing instruction. Children's Author, Artist Featured at Gallery's 'Coffee With the Authors' Event Nov. 4
Sunset River Marketplace art gallery will feature children’s author Anne Giordano, author of "Spencer, the Magic Rabbit," and dollmaker Stefania Malone at its Coffee With the Authors presentation on Thursday, Nov. 4. They will speak about their creative processes and have samples to discuss with the group.
Once there is a noticeable shift in the weather, when the air is crisp again and nights have turned cool, both the mood and displays at Sunset River Marketplace become even more festive.
Ginny Lassiter, owner of the eclectic Calabash, N.C. art gallery says, “We love the holidays. The artists go all out and help us fill the space with new pottery pieces, exquisite blown glass and more. We bring in a big old Christmas tree and fill it with ornaments, beautiful miniature paintings, photographs and objects handmade by the artists.”

The staff of Sunset River Marketplace are doing their part to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research, in their first Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walkathon. Sunset River Marketplace announces award-winning glass artist Scott Summerfield as Artist of the Month in October 2010. His unusual methods and distinctive style have drawn attention in the media and in prestigious juried art shows. Scott's pieces resemble familiar functional objects, such as bottles and teapots, but they are purely sculptural forms. This artist aims to stimulate the viewer through each piece's movement, color, fluidity and grace.
Scott grew up on Sunset Beach island, and much of his inspiration comes from his close proximity to the sea.... read more

The Brunswick Arts Council held their 10th Annual Fall Art Show and Sale at Sunset River Marketplace, from September 20th through October 1st. The winners of various awards were announced at a reception on September 26th.

Kathy Kody from Calabash Garden Tea Room presented a wonderful program on tea tasting at our Creative Exchange event on Wednesday, Sept. 8. We had over 50 participants. Kathy presented four unique tea blends from all over the world and she paired each with a complementary food item.

Intimacy Expert to Present 'Cultivating Extraordinary Relationships' at Gallery
Dr. Debra Reble, licensed psychologist and author will speak at Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash, N.C. on Thursday, Sept. 16. The event, which is part of the gallery’s Coffee With the Authors series, runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Due to limited seating, reservations are required. Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. has announced that Wilmington musician, Jim Quick, will present Inside the Song: the Making of Music at its monthly Creative Exchange event on Wednesday, August 11.
Owner Ginny Lassiter said, “We are so excited Jim is coming to the gallery. Jim Quick is legendary in this area for his witty banter and comical onstage antics. But not everyone outside the music business realizes what a serious and skilled songwriter he is.”

Sunset River Marketplace’s Creative Exchange series continues with "Line Dancing with Calabash Flash and Babs." It will be presented on Wednesday, May 12, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. by Flash and Babs Ludwick, the area’s unofficial ambassadors of beach music. The fee for the event is $5 and includes lunch. N.C. artist Sterling Edwards is set to conduct a five-day acrylics abstract workshop from September 20 - 24, at Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. Known best for his abstract landscapes painted in transparent watercolor, Edwards has spent much of the past two years creating large acrylic abstracts.
The Sunset River workshop will be his first acrylics workshop and is already generating a good deal of interest in the coastal Carolina art community. In this class, he will demonstrate and explain his techniques for painting acrylic media abstract paintings on canvas. He plans to include information about painting on paper as well.

Pastel artist Jane Staszak conducts a weekly class at Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. The dynamic instruction and exchange of ideas has resulted in a closely knit group who have dubbed themselves the "Pastel Sisters" and their group show, which runs at the gallery from March 27 through April 24 is titled Pastel Sisters Show All*.
