Matt Robinson Explores Faith and Culture through LA Film Studies Center Program
Matthew Robinson, a Montreat College senior graduating December 18, began a new opportunity on September 22 with the Los Angeles Film Studies Center (LAFSC). A Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Best Semester Program, the LA Film Studies Program offers four classes including The Theology of Hollywood, a course that explores the connection between the eye, the hand, and the heart, and an internship. The LAFSC focuses on the integration of faith and learning as well as developing the necessary skills for analysis of the culture of Hollywood. ReadMore
Screening of American Ecosystems Documentary a Success
On Tuesday, September 28, the Montreat College Communication Major screened the student-directed documentary, The Road West. Funded by a Ledford Grant through the Appalachian College Association, the 57-minute film chronicled the adventures of 24 Montreat students on a journey to 20 national parks. The documentary was filmed by Montreat students Todd Yancey, a 2010 graduate in Outdoor Education, and Carla Porterfield, an Environmental Studies major. The project was overseen and produced by Dr. Jim Shores, a professor in both the Environmental Studies and Communication majors. ReadMore

Montreat College Welcomes Mr. William Mackenzie
Mr. William Mackenzie will speak in convocation on Tuesday, November 16 at 11 a.m. in Gaither Chapel. The title of his address will be "Life's Priorities" with Philippians 3:1-11 as the key text. Mr. Mackenzie, a Scotland native, began a Christian book publishing company called Christian Focus over thirty years ago. ReadMore

Montreat College to Host Internationally Renowned Vocalist George Beverly Shea
On Monday, November 22, 2010, at 3 p.m. in Gaither Chapel, Mr. George Beverly Shea will be the guest speaker for the Montreat College Friends of the Library Thanksgiving Program. He will discuss his book How Sweet the Sound: Amazing Stories and Grace-Filled Reflections on Beloved Hymns and Gospel Songs. The community is invited to hear this internationally renowned recording artist and vocalist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow. ReadMore
Montreat College Presents Ted Tally's Terra Nova
This November Montreat College presents four performances of Ted Tallys Terra Nova, a play directed by Montreat College theater professor and professional actress Ms. Callan White-Hinman. Set in the frigid Antarctic winter of 1911-12, Terra Nova is the story of five Englishmen and five Norwegians who raced each other to the bottom of the earth. Only the five Norwegians returned. Terra Nova tells the account of the Englishmen. ReadMore
