Buffalo Creek Enterprises was formed by owner Phillip Gray in October 2003. Phillip has been in construction most of his adult life and has specialized in residential remodeling and home repair. He also has extensive experience in the building of custom cabinets and other structures, with the creative vision to combine functionality and professional appearance.
Through professional contacts at a parking management company in Charlotte, Phillip met with both managers and valet staff to determine what elements would combine to make the ideal valet podium. One of the first issues addressed was the fact that many of the podiums on the market rapidly became misaligned due to movement from storage to curbside. This misalignment rendered the locks useless, increasing the potential for theft. This issue was addressed in part through the use of a steel frame. In addition, the steel frame adds enough weight to greatly reduce the possibility of tipping over without making it too heavy to move.
Another issue was the deterioration of the door and door hinges, due in large part to the valet staff leaning on the door to retrieve keys from inside. This was addressed in multiple ways. The drawer, standard on most podiums at the top, was moved to the bottom of the podium, reducing the distance required to reach the key hooks. In addition, the key hooks are housed on a revolving cube, placed to make key retrieval as effortless as possible. Heavy duty stainless steel hinges further reinforce the stability of the door.
Extensive research was done to determine what type of lock would be both functional and provide maximum security. Currently, the standard is a slide lock with a combination. This enables the user to secure the door without it locking automatically while providing ease of locking and unlocking when necessary. Heavy duty 4 inch casters provide ease of movement with 2 locking wheels to keep the podium in place.
Functionality was combined with professional appearance by wrapping the exterior of the podium with brushed metal. Currently standard in brushed silver, it is also available in additional colors upon request. The current interior color is red with white numbers, but can also be varied upon request.
Although the metal podium is the design deemed most efficient and most sturdy, there is also a wooden box designed to satisfy those who still prefer this particular style. It is available with key hooks in the more standard position on the walls of the cabinet or with the key hooks on a revolving cube. The wooden box comes standard with a metal top to prevent deterioration.
Finally, after determining that many of the podiums currently on the market are difficult, if not impossible, to repair, all working parts can be removed for repair or replacement if necessary.
From the standpoint of value, pricing is comparable to other podiums on the market. However, it is the belief that podiums built by Buffalo Creek Enterprises will still be fully functional long after others have become useless. Each and every podium is guaranteed to have Phillip Grays stamp of approval prior to delivery.
Custom features and modifications are our specialty and will be priced according to their complexity. Other custom cabinetry is also available upon request. Previous projects include a desk and key box in use at a major hotel and a valet desk in use at a corporate building for guests of both restaurants and cultural events.
