August 12th, 2009 Harlan Laws Corporation completes custom mid-rise sign installation in Downtown Nashville, TN for BB&T.
Harlan Laws Corporation recently completed the fabrication and installation of a 5-0 face-lighted individual letter set for BB&Ts new Terrazzo Office located in Downtown Nashville, TN. Assisting in this effort was local partner A-1 Signs of Dickson, TN. Due to local ordinances as required by Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County , BB&T / Harlan Laws Corporation were required to work with a local sign contractor who was a licensed electrical equipment installer in order to secure the necessary sign erection permits as well as complete the signage installations. Due to local restrictions, out-of-town / state contractors are not allowed to perform installations in this jurisdiction.
Based on Harlan Laws Corporations initial site investigation, the perpetual professionalism of our local partner and the on-site presence of Mark Morency , Harlan Laws Corporations Director of Estimating and Engineering during the final installation process, this installation went well and according to plan states Brandon Mangum, Account Manager for BB&T. In addition to the local installation requirements, the building fascia to which the signage was attached was of a high-end imported Terrazzo tile (which bears the buildings name) which required both extreme caution and patience during the installation process to ensure that the structural integrity of the porous tile material was not compromised during the drilling / installation process. The new 5-0 letter set reading: BB&T featured a custom exterior finish to match one of the primary architectural components of the building. The lighting system for the letter set featured white Sloan V-Series LEDs making the signage compliant with many of the green development initiatives within this area of new development within Downtown Nashville, TN.
The Terrazzo Building was developed by Crosland of Nashville, TN and opened for business this Spring. BB&T has a significant presence within this mixed-use development including a retail banking center on the 1st Floor / lobby level as well as office space within one of the commercial floors of the building. BB&T Corporation is based in Winston-Salem , NC and is the nation's 10th largest financial holding company. Founded in 1872, BB&T operates more than 1,500 financial centers in 11 states and Washington , D.C.

April 15th, 2009 (Quintiles Transnational) to contract with Harlan Laws Corporation on new corporate signage on Raleigh-Durham Headquarters.
Harlan Laws Corporation was recently selected to provide state of the art signage on the glass tower located at their new headquarters near Raleigh-Durham International Airport . Known for its efficient green methods, HLC did not stop short in utilizing the latest in sustainable signage methods. Patrick Mills, Director of National Sales for HLC, worked closely on the project with Baker Glascow of Clancy & Theys Construction Company in developing a method that would allow for the attachment of two large 12-2 Lighted letters." This is challenging for our engineers and their team as they work together to provide the most cost-effective method for installing large letters which must be capable of sustaining high winds on their glass building structure," says Mills.
Harlan Laws Corporation provided a turn-key signage solution to this project - from design, manufacturing specifications and permitting to the final installation - all were managed by the in-house team working with Mills to insure this time sensitive project meets its deadline of April 17th. Using a 130-ton crane and multiple swing stages, Harlan Laws Corporation will hoist the lighted letters in the air, attaching them to the glass windowsill mullions. Once installed, the letters - pulling less than 10 amps each - will be powered by the Sloan LED lighting system, assuring the signs will be bright for viewing in all directions of the Triangle. We are very excited about the opportunity to work on this project which will make an architectural statement in our Triangle area," states Patrick Mills.

February 10th - Bojangle's (Tri-Arc Food Systems) to contract with Harlan Laws Corporation on 7 locations for Signage program.
Harlan Laws Corporation has recently been chosen to perform updated signage change outs on 7 Bojangle's locations (5 retro-fit and 2 new construction sites) with Tri-Arc Food Systems of Raleigh, NC. The Bojangle's locations are in the Durham and Wake County areas. Tommy Haddock, Owner of Tri-Arc, will be removing the old "light bulb" signage and will be "going green" with sustainable signage which will improve the look of the branding as well as become better for the environment. The new signs will be using the Sloan LED modules that will reduce energy savings for the Bojangle's signage from over 20 amps to 3.5 amps. Harlan Laws is a choice provider of signage to Bojangle's Corporate and its Franchisee program and looks forward to working with Tri-Arc Foods for their 1st quarter signage needs.
