Seminar with Sensei Andy Sato at Gishikan Dojo in Wilmington NC March 26-28, 2010

Beginning May 4th, class will run from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday nights. This will be followed by open mat time from 7:30 pm till 8:00 pm.

The Aikido Center (Retsushinkan Dojo) is a member of the Aikido World Alliance. Our dojo is located in Charlotte, NC.
Our mission is to provide a safe and inspiring place in which students of all levels can study and learn Aikido and other arts which compliment and enhance our mental and physical well being. Visitors are always welcome!

A Memorial to Fumio Toyoda Shihan
Following is an excerpt from a touching memorial to Toyoda Shihan by Gakku Homma "A formative figure in the history of Aikido has gone from us to heaven. His life, while short in comparison was not without impact. Especially for the development of Aikido in the United States, Fumio Toyoda Sensei's life is a very important testimonial to the first generations of pioneer instructors in this country. Fumio Toyoda Sensei is the Founder of the American Aikido Association."

New Members and Visitors
Visitors may come to our school on Monday or Wednesday nights. Class starts at 6:30 PM
The Aikido Center is located in the Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Church of Charlotte, 234 N. Sharon Amity (See Map). The entrance to the building is next to the circular drive. Come up the stairs and enter the doorway on your left and have a seat. An instructor will welcome you and answer your questions.
If you wish to enroll, please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before class to complete the paperwork. An orientation instructor will then be assigned to you for the next several classes. We strive to help new members feel they are a part of our group and ease the transition from new student to an Aikidoka.

Attendance and Practice
To learn Aikido and reap its benefits, one has to be willing to dedicate the time and effort to practice. Physical practice is the only way the body will understand the movements and techniques required in Aikido.
Learning Aikido is akin to juggling five balls at one time. Everyone would like to start out juggling all five, but it is impossible to do unless one has first mastered two, three, four and then five.

The Aikido Center is proud to be an affiliated dojo in good standing with the Aikido World Alliance.
