Some visitors enjoy sharing the pleasures of camping with their dogs or cats. To ensure that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience, KOA has established some guidelines.
Before You Go:
Call ahead. Check with the campground about its specific pet policies. Some don't allow pets in Kamping Kabins, for example, or may have limited pet units. Others don't accept particular breeds that insurance providers have identified as having a history of aggression.
Bring your helper. Service dogs are welcomed at all KOA Kampgrounds. (Leash and aggressive behavior rules apply.)
When You Arrive:
Good behavior is required. Dogs of any breed that are hostile or aggressive will be asked to leave the campground, along with their owners.
Bring the leash. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than 6 feet when outside their owners' vehicles or rental units. Do not leave a tethered dog unattended.
Remember manners. Constant barking bothers other campers. If your pet is too vocal, you'll need to find other accommodations.

For endless unspoiled sand and surf, head for this oceanfront KOA on the Outer Banks.
For endless unspoiled sand and surf, head for this oceanfront KOA on the Outer Banks. Its just a few steps from your campsite over the dunes and right to the Atlantic. Walk the beach for miles, hunting for shells, casting for bluefish and scouring the surface for dolphins that often cavort on by. Or head across this sliver of an island its just a quarter-mile wide, to Pamlico Sound, where windsurfers and kiteboarders scoot off toward the horizon.
There's also a full roster of summer activities at the campground - everything from pool games to basketball tournaments, craft activities like bead jewelry making, live skits and live music provided by the Summershiners. Finish with a dip in either of two pools and grab a bite at the poolside snack bar.
Our Jumping Pillow is a great hit with the entire family. Enjoy a family-oriented film under the stars at our Outdoor Cinema. Grab your sleeping bag and some change and hit the snack bar for freshly-popped popcorn. The KOA Express chugs through camp daily, with your conductor pointing out campground highlights and local attractions. Fun here is as limitless as the sand.
Enjoy the comforts of home in our all new lodges that sleep up to 6 people!

We really did build the "World's Largest S'More"
On June 19, 1999 over 200 KOA campers and local Girl Scouts toasted 9,300 Jet-Puffed marshmallows, unwrapped 4,000 Nestle chocolate bars and 300 pounds of Honey Maid graham crackers in an attempt to create a new worlds record for the Guinness Book of Records. The monster munchie weighed in at 788 pounds and measured 10 feet wide by 40 feet long taking just over five hours to complete. This historic event was a big hit for families as they made their own individual smores all day long while cheering on the creation of the largest smore ever made. It truly was a sight to see and we encourage you to check our events calendar for more exciting activities at the campground. Dont miss out on all the fun!
