Honor our Vets! The Mimosa Inn is a participant in the B&B's for Vets program

Built on the foundations of the original Mills family home, The Mimosa Inn is an historic 10,000 square foot, 107 year old "Plantation" style mansion with 10 guest rooms, all with private baths and a/c, situated on four park-like acres facing the Blue Ridge Mountains. The site is famous for its many champion trees, including the largest Mimosa Silktree (Albiziz julibrissin) growing in the USA. The Inn is also home to many Harlequin Glory Bower (Clerodendrum trichotomum) flowering shrubs that blossom from July through October providing a wonderful light fragrance throughout the summer and fall seasons. The on-site licensed restaurant and wide-open spaciousness of the Inn's public rooms, porches, patios & 55' front verandah make it an ideal setting for weddings, special occasions or romantic get-a-ways.

The Mimosa Inn is located in the Village of Tryon. That seemingly obvious fact becomes important when you search the web for Tryon accommodations and after close inspection find that many of the Inns / hotels listed are actually up to 30 miles away. Those who fail to closely inspect the search results before making their reservations are occasionally unpleasantly surprised.

A visit to the Mimosa Inn and Tryon/Polk County area takes you back to a time when the Cherokee and settler both competed for the land. Years before the Revolutionary War, the Royal Governor, William Tryon, himself journeyed to the area and negotiated a new dividing line between the Indian and white man. This is reflected in the names of the surrounding mountains (Tryon Peak & White Oak Mountain for the Indian Chief). Today the area is renowned for its exceptional beauty, great weather, year round golfing, and equestrian traditions.
