HPU To Feature Choral Ensembles, NC Symphony For Holiday Performances
High Point University will offer a gift to the community in December, thanks to special holiday performances by HPU vocal ensembles and the North Carolina Symphony. The warm holiday sounds will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, and at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, respectively. Both events will be held in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
HPU Theatre Presents 'Our Town'
High Point University Theatre will present "Our Town" in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The show will run Nov. 18 through Nov. 21; it is open to the public. The production, directed by Ed Simpson, professor and chair of the Department of Theater at HPU, is described by Edward Albee as "the greatest American play ever written." "It is a rich, powerful and warmly human play," Simpson says.
HPU To Offer Master's Degree In Strategic Communication
High Point University will soon offer a masters degree in Strategic Communication, a program that will be available in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. "The master's program will provide the foundation for students to create, implement and evaluate communication campaigns, programs and training seminars," says Dr. Virginia McDermott, associate professor and director of the Masters Program in Strategic Communication.
HPU Announces Creation of 100 New Jobs by August 2011
Thanks to continued growth at High Point University, the school plans to expand its workforce by at least 100 positions by the end of August 2011. This will bring HPU's total workforce up to 997, up from 462 five years ago. "A growing High Point University is good for our city and our region," says Chris Dudley, vice president for Administration.
HPU Recipient Of Davidson County Estate
High Point University received a gift of a country home and 20 acres of land located in Davidson County this week from Molly Millis, a High Point philanthropist. The estate will potentially be used by the university as a retreat with a ropes course and equestrian center. The property's proximity to campus makes it ideal for our faculty and students to incorporate it into our experiential learning program," said president Dr. Nido R. Qubein.
