With the rain and even some hail this afternoon on the island, the fishing slowed down for the day and the temperature was much cooler. We did have reports of some puppy drum, some flounder,and a few bluefish scattered along the beach the past few days as well as a couple of large drum later in the evening/morning. Inshore, the boats willing to dodge the rain also found large red drum, some bluefish, and a couple of puppy drum.
Jason Kellogg of Charlotte, NC emailed a photo of his wife, Shelly, with her first keeper flounder caught on shrimp. Sonny Miller of Wake Forest, NC shared his photo from Thursday evening of a 44" red drum on the beach. Donald Routh, "Mayor" of Millboro, NC found a keeper puppy drum Wednesday. Rodger Cederberg of Pinconning, MI found a 26" puppy drum on Wednesday, but we had camera difficulties and were not able to get the photo. Matt Eggleston of Kernersville, NC shared his photo of a citation 48" red drum from Tuesday evening with us. Steve Myers of Mocksville, NC caught a large shark along the beach and shared his photo before heading home. Keith Smith of Norfolk, VA emailed his photo from Sunday of a 44" red drum he caught on the south end.
Charlie Womble of Virginia Beach, VA found a 42" red drum fishing inshore with Capt Ernie Doshier of the "Drumrunner" on Thursday. Anthony Whitehurst and Eric Holloman emailed a couple of their citation red drum caught and tagged while fishing with Capt Norman Miller of the "Rascal" the past couple of days inshore.
