Champion McDowell Davis dreamed of a place where seniors would chose to live and employees would desire to work. He turned his vision into reality in 1966 when the first resident entered the nonprofit skilled nursing home named for his mother, Cornelia Nixon Davis. Today, the 50-acres Davis Community includes the Health Care Center, a 199-bed skilled nursing facility; Champions Assisted Living, an apartment-style community of active seniors; and the Physicians Group, a medical practice specializing in treating the health concerns of aging adults. A 20-bed Rehabilitation and Wellness Pavilion will open in September 2010. In a quest to be an all-inclusive campus for the elderly, The Davis Community's leaders embrace change and innovation.
