Brad, our head roaster, visiting Ernesto - an organic coffee farmer at the PROCOSER co-operative, situated in the Nueva Segovia region of Nicaragua 15 miles from the Honduras border.
Our Purpose in Life is to concoct wondrously luscious works of coffee and make the world better at the same time.
We slow roast in ridiculously small batches to bring out every rich layer of indigenous flavor.
100% of our coffee is Fair Trade, Shade Grown and Organic or Transitional Organic. (Our Organic and Fair Trade practices are certified and audited by Quality Certification Services.)
We honor the work of our farming partners by transforming their extraordinary beans into marvelous coffees.
We love compost. But we've never done it on this scale! Larry really wants to drive that machine...
BUT THAT AIN'T ALL FOLKS.
Making the world better goes way beyond Fair Trade organic coffee, so we've green-o-vated our Bean Plant with passive solar design, wind-powered vents, rainwater harvesting, fruit bushes and even dual flush toilets. We deliver locally with recycled veggie oil. We operate Raleigh's only gasoline-free 100% biodiesel pump. And, to get other folks up to speed, we created sustainability-school.org
Sick of boring conference food? Check out Raleigh's Green Planet Catering. They buy local, they run on waste-grease biodiesel, they compost. (Oh, they serve Larry's too...)
Rock Star Coffee. For Real. Woodstock Morning Blend has been and gone. But if you ain't done dancing, pick up some Fire in the Belly, made for musician, mystic and friend of Larry's Beans, Xavier Rudd.
