Help Save Mr. Flipper Foot!
This is Mr. Flipper Foot, a corgi-mix dog, that was in serious need of medical attention. His left front limb had been broken as a puppy and never received medical attention. Therefore, it healed incredibly crooked and had become increasingly uncomfortable for him. He was taken to VSRP, a wonderful specialty surgical facility in Cary, and had corrective surgery on April 15, 2010. He now has begun his long 6 month recovery. Please visit his blog at:

Mr. Flipper Foot did fantastic through his recovery! He hated being confined and not being able to play with the other dogs (even though it was for his own good). Melissa, our resident dog savior, then took Mr. Flipper home for the last month of his recovery and to help him get adjusted to living in a home. She also was instrumental in placing Mr. Flipper in his new forever family home. He now has a St. Bernard brother named Finn and the two are getting along famously!
The weather is cooling but unfortunately here in NC that still means fleas & ticks...ugh!

Pittsboro Animal Hospital has been a mainstay of Chatham County for over 20 years. In the summer of 2006 the hospital was purchased by Dr. Laurie Weiser, a graduate of the University of California, Davis Veterinary School. For more information about Dr. Laurie Weiser and the staff here at Pittsboro Animal Hospital please go to the "Meet the Staff" page.
Our highly skilled staff will care for your pet with compassion, kindness, and patience. Our clients will always be treated with courtesy, promptness, and understanding. Pittsboro Animal Hospital offers our clients and patients a very relaxed setting, but the most modern medicine available to our veterinary patients.
Our recently remodeled hospital is equipped with a brand new state-of-the-art complete in-house laboratory. We are one of the few hospitals in the greater area that can evaluate a complete blood chemistry, red and white blood cell parameters, and electrolytes in house. This is critical for accurate care during an emergency, performing pre-anesthetic monitoring, and general wellness checks of our aging pets. Here at Pittsboro Animal Hospital we also have the equipment to perform radiography, monitor blood pressure, ECG, and monitor for glaucoma.
In addition to updating the veterinary hospital we also have been renovating the boarding facility to make it a true pet resort. We have fenced in two large yards and the pet suites are well under construction. Other additions will include indoor play area, wading pools for summer fun, and a jungle-gym for the outdoor yards. Please see the Pet Resort page for further information and pictures.
Please welcome our staff member "Billy Russell" next time you come visit. Billy is the laziest cat so you may not even see him as he rarely gets off the chair. When he does decide to move (especially if a bag of food is opened) he is quite content to sit in your lap, purr and drool. We had to make some design changes to the hospital to accommodate his voracious appetite...to date he has probably opened 30 bags of food. Billy has topped out at about 18lbs so is now on a strict diet to get him back to his svelte 14lb frame. Update 12/2009...Billy has been on a strict diet of Purina OM and is now back to his fighting weight of 14 lbs! Go Billy...now if our 2010 New Year's Resolutions can be as successful!
Doogie is our most current acquisition. He had been in a foster home for a very long time and was unadoptable due to having inflammatory bowel disease. He appears to be well controlled here and has been a great addition to our family. He enjoys sitting on the front counter batting at the clients pens as they write.
Dodger was also in foster care for many years with chronic eye discharge. He had been misdiagnosed with a chronic upper respiratory infection for years. Upon our examination we realized that he did not have a URI but needed surgery for entropion (a curling of the eyelids). We performed surgery and decided to keep him. Surgery was a great success and his eyes are now open and comfortable! He is a bit head shy due to having had long standing eye discomfort but is adjusting well.
