Begun in 1935 as Raleigh's premier bridal and senior high school, college and university photography studio, Smith Studio (formerly "Smith and Waller Studio") has expanded and continues to grow and refine. In 1975, the studio expanded it's lab support by adding color printing capabilities which gave us complete control over both our black and white and color creations. Shortly after that, with the premier of the television series "ROOTS", the importance of ancestoral ties sparked an intense demand for photo restoration. With our lab and our established staff of artisans, photo restoration became a natural expansion of our list of specialities. In 1978 we moved to Wake Forest Road and began providing professional lab services to other professional studios whose owners liked the control a small local lab afforded them. In 1990 Smith Studio was moved into a 6000 square foot building designed and outfitted for the maximum in dramatic and cozy settings for bridal, children and family photography.Our curved staircase and two story paladian window are particularly popular for these categories of portraiture. The size of our facility makes it ideal for family photography - particularly large families of twelve to twenty-five. Outside, we have specific enviornments to compliment our photography of children, couples, seniors and family photography. This is how we have presently arrived at our array of specilities - photo restoration, couples and seniors portriture, bridal, executive and fimily photography.
