Carla Nielsen is a licensed psychologist who has worked in public and private practice settings for over 30 years. She obtained her Ph. D. from Duke University. Dr. Nielsen works with adults, adolescents, and children individually, in couples counseling, and in family therapy. Her expertise includes helping people through adjustment issues, relationship and communication issues, and helping children with behavioral and educational challenges.
Dr. Nielsen employs a collaborative approach in working with clients and their families. She helps them establish goals for counseling, understand what has caused problems in the past, and how to improve their coping strategies. The benefits of counseling lead to improved self-esteem and self-understanding as well as improved relationships and reduced stress.
Dr. Nielsen is married and the mother of two daughters. She has lived in the Raleigh area over 30 years. Her office is conveniently located one mile south of I-540 at the intersection of Creedmoor and Strickland Roads in the Creedmoor Centre office complex.
