Dr. Cox sponsors Chapel Hill elementary school for 2010 AAD Shade Structure Grant!
This Summer Dr. Cox sponsored Morris Grove Elementary School in Chapel Hill for a 2010 Shade Structure Grant from the American Academy of Dermatology. Morris Grove Elementary was one of only 37 organizations in the country awarded a grant this year. Congratulations keeping children in our community sun-protected!
The American Academy of Dermatology's Shade Structure Program awards funds for the purchase for permanent shade structures to non-profit organizations in need of shade for outdoor locations. These locations include any areas where children and adults gather and are exposed to the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, bleachers, eating areas and other recreation areas.Since 2000, the Academy has awarded 211 shade structure grants to organizations across the country. These shade structures provide shade for more than 157,799 individuals each day.
I am excited for the children and teachers at Morris Grove Elementary who will now have an appropriate shade structure during recess and other outdoor activities.
