However, for a church to be healthy, it must be a purpose-driven church built around the five New testament purposes provided by Jesus. The five stated purposes found in both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission are Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Ministry. Wendell Baptist Church is driven by these five purposes.

As a fellowship of believers united in faith, the mission of Wendell Baptist Church is:
- To reach people for Jesus Christ
- To nurture one another through prayer and the study of God's Word, and
- To equip each other for service, missions, and ministry.
