John Pittari Sr. brought his family to the United States from Naples, Italy in the mid-70's. Pittari not only brought his family from Italy but he also brought his love of authentic Italian cuisine to the U.S. Shortly after Pittari Sr. arrived in America, he opened up a string of restaurants in Brooklyn, NY. As the decade of the 80's approached, he made his way south to North Carolina. It was here in the Tarheel State that Pittari Sr. opened up his first pizzeria, Schiano's Pizza, in the Crabtree Valley Mall. Twin sons, Victor and Johnny Jr., got involved in the family business at the tender age of eight years old as they learned how to wait tables at the pizzeria.
