Pastor Mike Padgett was born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he attended school and graduated from Onslow Academy School. His family has been in the car business, since 1981 and he learned at an early age about work under his father's tutelage. He met and fell in love with his lovely wife Sheila and they have two beautiful and talented daughters, Mandi, who has graduated from UNC in Greensboro, and Morgan. Pastor Mike accepted Jesus as Lord and savior thirteen years ago after the death of his three and a half year old son, Kyle. Two years later God laid the call to preach on his heart and began by giving his personal testimony. In 1998 he was led by God to start The Potter's House Church, where the first service consisted of four people--Pastor Mike, his wife Sheila and their two daughters, and of course Jesus was in the midst, so it was really five. In March 2010 we will celebrate our thirteenth year of ministry. The theme God placed in our hearts for this ministry is: "That God never consults your past to determine your future. "It is the desire of Pastor Mike Padgett and the entire Potter's House congregation to see as many souls saved for the kingdom of God as possible. God has truly blessed The Potter's House with a man of integrity, who preaches the uncompromising word of God. To God be the glory forever.

Where Did The Name - The Potter's House Come From? When I finally came to terms that the LORD was calling me to full time ministry, there was a preacher friend that invited me to a camp meeting in Kanapolis, NC. I went with my friend to this meeting and while I was there I was invited by the host Pastor to spend some time with him. While we were riding and talking, I was sharing with him what I believed the LORD wanted me to do.
I had no idea where to start or what to do, or even if I was hearing GOD right. Could it really be possible that GOD was calling me???
That night as I was attempting to sleep, my phone rang late in the night and it was this special man that GOD had allowed me to share with that day. He said preacher, turn to Jeremiah 18 and read it. Then he hung the phone up on me. I reached for the bible and turned it to Jeremiah 18, and it read:

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

I concluded that night - that The Potter's House was to be the name of our church. After all - we are all clay in the hands of the Potter.
He is forming and fashioning us - to fulfill his purpose in our lives. At the time we settled on the name The Potter's House, we had no idea there was another Potter's House in Texas, Pastored by Bishop T.D. Jakes. Often we are asked if we are connected to this ministry???
The answer is no, we were not birthed directly from his ministry, however we love Bishop's anointing and his ministry and support all ministries who lift up JESUS!
