We as a body of believers, being joined by the blood of Jesus Christ who is our Savior and Lord, adopted by God the Father, and led and baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, do now enter into this covenant with and before one another as one body in Christ, and before God “who has called heaven and earth to record this day against us” (Deut 30:19).
We will be led by the Holy Spirit; walk together in love and unity; strive for the advancement of this local church in knowledge and holiness; loyal to it’s leadership; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to give cheerfully towards it’s expenses for the support of it’s outreach ministry and the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
We will also strive to maintain family values; “to study to show ourselves approved unto God” (2 Tim 2:15); and to exhort one another daily; to sustain from back-biting, strife, envy and discrimination; “to let no corrupt communication come out of our mouths” (Eph 4:29); to spiritually educate and train our children in the Word of God (Prov 22:6).
We furthermore “will not be conformed to this world’s system, but will be transformed by the renewing of our minds...” (Rom 12:2) in the Word of God. Finally, we will remain “steadfast and unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord...” (1 Cor 15:58) and “never give place to the devil” (Eph 4:27).
