Your total dining experience begins the moment you walk in the door of Flight, from the stunning flowers in the vestibule to the pleasant greeting from the hostess. The original 1920s bank building, designed by Erle Stillwell, renowned architect of the era, is softened with retro-modern décor. A mobile of three hundred handmade birds glides overhead. The contemporary and colorful artwork of Bob Davis adorns the walls while Chaffe McIlhenny’s handblown glass graces the niches along the wall. See the leafy wrought iron balcony railing hand made by Doug Lapham. Soft jazz plays in the background while the apple wood grill sizzles with everything from salmon to filet mignon.
Flight offers several distinct dining options: On the main floor, there is the hustle and bustle of friends and families gathering together. The bar is a convivial place for those dining alone to meet friends yet unmet or for those who want a quick bite. On the balcony level, the booths and small tables, some overlooking Main Street, offer more privacy and an opportunity for romance. The Vault, so named because it once housed the bank’s safety deposit boxes, is now home to selected bottles of fine wine. It is available for private parties.
Flight is the only restaurant in Hendersonville, NC to offer such an extensive wine list and 40 wines by the glass.
