From the Pastor: Monday, November 15, 2010
This past Sunday during Worship we celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism of Sean Joseph Fleming, son of Mike and Helen Fleming. While Sean cooperated with unusual calmness, I must admit the excitement of his parents Mike and Helen was obvious and contagious. We look forward to this coming Sunday (November 21) when we will celebrate the Baptism of Emerson “Emsley” Read Seymour, daughter of Tom and Mary Scott Seymour.
Several New Members were received into our church family during Worship on Sunday and we will be doing the same this coming Sunday (November 21) and on the 1st Sunday of Advent (November 28). I have listed below the names of those who joined this past Sunday along with their children:
D.J. and Lori Cipriano
Jeff and Hope Meadows (Sophia and Bo)
David and Carrie Minnich (Allie and John)
Scott Shuler and Julie Voss
We continue our fall Stewardship Season as this week elders will be contacting those in our church family who have yet to make a pledge to the 2011 Operating Budget. Have you turned in your pledge card? The Session hopes to complete our financial planning for 2011 by early December and the participation of everyone is much appreciated.
Once again this year our annual Harvest of Gifts Sunday will be this Sunday, November 21 (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) when we will receive our 2011 Time & Talent Stewardship Commitments during Worship. The Time & Talent forms were mailed to everyone in our church last week and extra copies will be available in the Sanctuary on Sunday. We will also receive our Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, Canned Goods for the B.C.O. (Belmont Community Organization) and receive our Nickel-A-Meal Hunger Offering as we present our Time & Talent pledges during the Offering.
In the words of the late Dr. C. Corts, my parents’ long-time Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, “I look forward to seeing you in Worship this Sunday with a friend by your side and the love of Christ in your heart.”
