Quick Facts

Burlington Christian Academys Two-Fold Mission- 1) To provide for our students an excellent academic education, and 2) to disciple our students in the Christian faith and a biblical worldview. We teach both the head and the heart. Through the intentional integration of academics and faith, we seek to equip students with knowledge, skills, and biblical principles for successful living. Within our loving and nurturing learning environment, we strive to make a significant difference in a child's life so that each child can grow to be the person Christ intends him/her to be.
BCA was established in 1978.
Recipient of the 2003 Exemplary School Program Award from the Association of Christian Schools International due to our work in critical thinking with Thinking Maps. We were one of only thirty-eight (38) schools nationwide to receive such an award.
Recognized as a school in the top 10% of all schools in the nation by the Council of American Private Education and the U.S. Department of Education

Identified as one of the Top Private Schools in the Triad by the Business Journal who reviewed schools in Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Thomasville, High Point, etc., and identified BCA as a superior school

Standardized Testing Results- All students in grades 1-8 are tested each year using the Stanford Achievement Test. Last year's results (April 2010) indicate that our students score significantly above the national average and significantly above grade level. With respect to National Percentile, our students scored, on average, in the top 10% in the nation. These are outstanding test scores! BCA has worked hard over the years to create an optimum learning environment with a rigorous and challenging curriculum. High school students take a variety of nationally standardized tests based on grade level and choice of classes. These tests include the Stanford Achievement (9,11), PLAN (10), PSAT (11), SAT (11,12), and various AP Exams (10,11,12). The first BCA graduating class in 2010 earned combined SAT scores well above the local, state, and national averages with 100% participation. Fifty percent of the class of 2010 earned at least one grade of 3 or higher on one or more AP exams, thus earning the student the possibility of college credit for classes taken in high school. In addition 12% of the students in the classes of 2010 and 2011 have earned National Merit Commendations.
Interdenominational Christian School- BCA is under the oversight of Burlington Assembly of God, which is an outstanding church in our community focused on scripture, prayer, evangelism, and service. As an interdenominational Christian school we have students representing approximately 200 churches in the community. From Lutheran to Catholic, Baptist to Presbyterian, and Episcopal to Pentecostal, the school has a diverse denominational population.
Christian World-View- BCA is involved daily in directing our students in the Christian faith and in a Christian world-view. Our objective is to lead young students to the acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior, and to actively disciple them in the faith which leads to Christian maturity and the embracing of a Christian world-view. A biblically consistent education must be modeled as well as taught. Consequently, our Christian faculty model Christian virtues, lead students each morning in daily devotions, oversee chapel services, direct daily student prayers, involve students in scripture memorization and missions projects, and seek out areas of Christian service as part of our educational curriculum at BCA.

Duke University Talent Identification Program- Each year a significant number of our students qualify for special academic honors. This past year 34% of our fourth graders and 57% of our fifth graders qualified for the Duke University 4th-5th Grade Talent Identification Program with scores in the top 5% in the nation. Further, 42% of our seventh graders scored in the top 5% in the nation and qualified for this honor.
Sports Program- BCA students have the opportunity to participate in various athletic endeavors. Sports currently offered include soccer, tennis, volleyball, cross-country, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, track, baseball, golf, and softball.
