Welcome to our website!
Our church name is Liberty because we believe we have a calling from God to discover, enjoy and share with others God's marvelous love, the most freeing power in the universe.
Our vision is to equip disciples and plant churches who will take the gospel of grace and reconciliation to Alamance County and the world, and to assist other ministries and bless our community, imparting life, liberty, healing and restoration through the truth of God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit in an atmosphere of love. We want to impact Alamance County and the world by reaching individuals and families with the gospel of God's grace.
Our mission is to glorify God, minister to people and make disciples of all nations. We usually shorten this to: Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples. We believe that the church must be centered around its desire to fulfill the Great Commission rather than be a spiritual services vendor. In other words, our goal is to equip you to be a minister instead of encouraging you to be a passive receiver.
Our values were discovered by drilling down to the bedrock of what we truly treasure in its simplest components. I believe we can sum up our values in five points.

Being Organic - All we do must be birthed, empowered and directed by God's Holy Spirit.
Maintaining Loving Relationships - The Kingdom of God is a family. We all have the same Father in heaven Who has called us to a life of love and service. We must make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3)
Developing Godly Character - According to Romans 8:29, God chose us to be conformed to the image of his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is at work in all believers to develop in us the fruit of the Spirit and the character and obedience of Christ. We must make developing Christlike character a top priority.
Being Missional - We have been given the Great Commission to go and make disciples who will obey Christ. Part of being missional is proclaiming the gospel. Another part is being the gospel by serving the less fortunate. In Christ's name we are to minister to those who do not yet know Him, to the poor, the afflicted and the oppressed. Isaiah 61:1 is our theme verse.
The Priesthood of the Believer - Everyone has a kingdom calling and ministry from God. The church's job is to prepare and equip people to fulfill that call and do that ministry.

The ministry of Liberty Church is both pastoral and missional. We use Sunday mornings to minister pastorally to our people, and we use the rest of the week to fulfill the Great Commission by focusing on those outside the church. There are multitudes of people who simply are not interested in attending the organized church. Instead of depending on them to come to our meetings, we are going to them. Mobile Ministry is one way we do this. We go into neighborhoods in order to minister to and pray with those who live there. Over time we develop deepening relationships with the people. We learn about the challenges they face and the hurts they have endured; and. we share with them how Jesus came to be their Savior. We have been able to pray with many people, give counsel, show love in practical ways, lend a listening ear, and lead some to faith in Christ. Our desire is to see a local expression of the church in every neighborhood, whether it be a discipleship group, a cell group or a Bible study. The team that is devoted to the pursuit of making disciples and planting new churches is called Journey. Pastor Pete is looking for people who wish to be part of the adventure of making disciples and planting churches.

We measure our success by how well we fulfill the Great Commission. We emphasize the outreach and ministry that happens outside the doors of the church with people who are not part of the church, more than the ministry that takes place during our Sunday meetings. Our Sunday meetings are meant to be a time of refreshing and equipping to prepare us for the rest of the week of ministry to those outside the church walls. We hope that all of our people will be engaged in some form of outreach and ministry. Below is a short video that captures the essence of what we hope to do in our local community.

Please take time to explore our site to find out more about our church. If you do not already have a church home, we invite you to join us! God can and will use your unique personality, passion, gifts and strengths to make Liberty Church more effective in its God-given mission. On our part, we will do our best to nurture and equip you to become a mature disciple of Christ, as well as release you to to fulfill God's call upon your life.
