INTEGRITY – LIVING BY PRINCIPLE Peter and John, the disciples turned apostles, had a decision to make. They could follow the advice of the Sanhedrin (the Jewish Council) and not be so public about their belief that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah and the Savior of the world. If they simply practiced their faith quietly, they would not be persecuted. However, if they continued their public pronouncements and preaching, they were in for a difficult time of persecution. In essence the decision came down to this, take the easy (and less faithful) way, or remain true to themselves and their calling. more >>>

›› Welcome To Our Church! Since 1782, caring and faithful people have gathered as the congregation of First United Methodist Church. We continue that tradition of offering God's love and a place for people to gather for support and spiritual growth. Because we believe that God speaks to people in different ways there are two styles of worship offered each Sunday morning. At 8:30 a.m., a contemporary service is offered for those who enjoy a more casual atmosphere, a praise band, and contemporary music. At 11:00 a.m. a traditional service is offered in the sanctuary. The beauty of the stained glass windows and a full pipe organ enhance this worship opportunity.

›› Ash Wednesday Service - February 17 at 7:00 p.m.
We will begin the season of Lent with an Ash Wednesday Service on February 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. The Ash Wednesday worship service is a solemn service which calls us to observe Lent and make it a holy time of prayer, Bible study, introspection, repentance, and self-denial. The service culminates in the imposition of ashes. The ashes used are from the burning of last year’s Palm Sunday palm leaves. This is a potent reminder that we, as human beings, are guilty of cheering Jesus on some days and turning our backs on him on other days. The ashes serve a dual function.
