"When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such a work as our descendents will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon and wrought substance of them, "See! This our father did for us."
Hi, my name is John DeBoy, and I am a General Contractor and Home Builder on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While rummaging through an antique store in Kill Devil Hills. , I came across a set of four old books called Audels Carpenters and Builders Guild circa 1920. On the first page of every book is the written quote above. Around the same time, I was developing my web site, and had to come up with a mission statement. Well low and behold, there it was on the front page of every one of these four books. John Ruskin's quote was exactly how I felt about my role as a Custom Home Builder and Remodeler. Our mission at DeBoy Construction & Remodeling, Inc. is to deliver a product that my son would be proud to say "..my dad built that".
We are a design-build construction company that can deliver stock plans or create custom drawings to your own specifications. I am fortunate and proud to say that I am a "hands on" contractor with 20+ years as a master carpenter, which guilds me in the hindsight required to be an efficient and reliable Home Builder. -- John DeBoy
