Trent Symposium for Newly Ordained Ministers
I have recently returned from a trip to Korea where Syngman Rhee, Haesan Rhee, board member Marcus and Young Shim, my wife, Sharon, and I were blessed to meet and fellowship with our Korean brothers and sisters in Christ. Union Presbyterian Seminary has a rich history of mission work in Korea. It was a wonderful experience to walk the same trails that many Presbyterian missionaries visited in years past. I cherished the opportunity to see the hospitals and places of worship that their work either established or inspired.
While in Korea, we participated in a number of worship experiences and were overwhelmed with the hospitality we were shown. One of my most memorable experiences was having an opportunity to participate along with six other clergy in the baptism of 418 soldiers at the demilitarized zone. I sensed God’s presence so deeply as each soldier stepped forward to be baptized.
We are so blessed to have had a chance to build bonds with our community in Korea and we are excited about the opportunities for the seminary and the church to play leadership roles in the reconciliation efforts in that country. We invite you to join us as we continue our work to build up the body of Christ.
