A SPECIAL TREAT is in store for everyone on Thursday, November 18th, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
CAROL KENNY will give a reading from her new novel
Whispers From St. Marys Well, the fictional biography of Caroline Rose Newlyn, who was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland, in 1851 beneath the veil, predicting episodes of clairvoyance. She witnesses her family's traumatic losses, her mother's descent into deep depression, and a brutal murder that incites decades of racial violence. Virtually orphaned at a young age, she must find a way to raise herself with help from spiritual allies, a supportive community, and her role model, Cappy the Madcap, a character from her favorite book. The books Caroline read inspired her, just as this book has inspired many readers.
An underlying premise of the novel is that young children with memories of their prior spiritual state have heightened spirituality and speak with words of wisdom. Real children have inspired the author. Carol will share their stories with you and invites you to share your stories, as well.
With an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a graduate degree from Duke University, Carol Kenny earned a Certificate in Literary Fiction at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Whispers from St. Marys Well is her first novel. Her story, In Touch with Faith, is in a Chicken Soup for the Soulbook. Carol also won Honorable Mention in the West Virginia Emerging Prose Writers Contest and was a finalist in the Press 53 Short Fiction Contest.

New Hanover County Library-Northeast Branch
Though we dont like to schedule two events on the same evening, this time it was unavoidable. One of the events was already on the calendar for the New Hanover County Library as well as our event with Carol Kenny and it was too late to change. At any rate, our readers will have a choice and both functions will be worthwhile and enjoyable.
AN EVENING WITH NAN GRAHAM is scheduled at the Northeast Branch of the New Hanover County Library on Thursday, October 18th, at 6:30 PM. Nans humorous commentaries on WHQR have delighted listeners for years, as well as the two volumes, Turn South at the Next Magnolia and In a Magnolia Minute, which are collections of some of her funniest stories. She will be the featured speaker for this annual program presented by the Friends of the Library. Two Sisters Bookery will handle book sales after the program and Nan will be on hand to personally autograph copies.
